I love the microscopic dissection of this guy’s decent into depression… Your depiction of loneliness and alienation is painfully moving. I love the line “He felt as if his table had become untethered from the others and was drifting across the dining area” ..and the last line is sublime.. Wonderful story!

There are so many wonderful ‘true-to-life’ lines in this story.
“He squeezed in to the padded bench seat and then got himself all hot and bothered trying to free himself of his jacket.” For one example, these are things we don’t think about, but ring so truly.

I thoroughly enjoyed being carried along on the flow, and the last line was a belter of a way to polish it all off.

Very nice work.

What attracted me were the weird or simply unusual lines and thoughts, like, “Stupid to eat salad in winter though.” It’s just a different psychology than I walk around with.
